Mount Trashmore Park

What takes up 165 acres, is 60 feet high and over 800 feet long and was built over an old land dump? Why it's, Mount Trashmore Park!!! (Hence the name).

Don't let its stinky name fool you, this monstrosity of a park is pretty sweet! A few Sundays ago we had record high temperatures of 77 degrees (I think it was hotter here then in Florida). When temperatures climb this high after miserable 20-30 degree weather, everyone, and I mean everyone, ventures outside. So in true Virginia Beach fashion I ventured out to check out Mount Trashmore Park. With Emma in hand and our new friends Erica and her handsome dog Marley, we set out to get a little exercise, sun and fun!

And what fun we had! There is a huge hiking/biking trail that circles Lake Trashmore...

2 skate boarding parks...

a huge tot lot...

basketballs courts, volleyballs courts, picnic areas, kite flying areas...

and paddle boats on the lake in the spring and summer.

We had so much fun1 I try to go back every weekend, weather permitting. And the best news is this amazing park is a 1/2 mile from our house!
